Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
(Who should serve as trustee?)

You may serve as trustee of your charitable remainder annuity trust, or you may choose another individual, bank, or trust company to serve as trustee of your trust. Your financial advisor or attorney may be able to offer recommendations if you don't have a trustee in mind.

In addition, if you fund your trust with at least $50,000 in cash, securities or other property, the Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia will agree to serve as trustee of your trust. The University administers a large portfolio of charitable remainder trusts, and its fees are typically less that those charged by institutional trustees.

Whichever option you choose, we can share sample trust forms and discuss the details of establishing the trust with you and your advisors.
